Meat is considered one of the most delicious food stuffs since time immemorial. This explains why in most cultures and societies, meat is seen as a delicacy which is mostly prepared and served on specials days or during other events such as family barbeques, birthday parties,

Although meat has been figured out and blamed as a source of diseases over the last few decades, this assertion does not exactly make sense because humans have been eating meat a long time ago and thus new illnesses and sicknesses should not be attributed to old foods such as meat. That said it is absolutely imperative to preserve meat in the right conditions prior to consumption so that it does not pose health hazards to consumers. This is so because, meat is very delicate and if not well preserved can be easily contaminated with germs and other bacteria.

Also, meat can easily decay if not stored under the required temperature. Meat should be stored in the freezer and it must not be kept for too long depending on its state and size. For instance larger cuts of uncooked meat such as steak can be stored in the freezer for up to six months whereas cooked meat or minced meat should not be stored for too long. The explanation is simply the fact that cooked meat normally has flavor which oxidizes in the freezer over a period of time. Also it is advisable to rather thaw frozen meat in the fridge or microwave than at room temperature on the kitchen counter.

The benefits of meat in the body cannot be over emphasized. High quality unprocessed meat is very rich in many nutrients and vitamins especially vitamin B, zinc, iron and proteins. These nutrients and vitamins play an important role in keeping our bodies running like a well-greased machine. Also, consuming both plants and animals gives human beings the edge to function best. This is because our digestive systems have been wired to make use of fats, proteins and nutrients obtained from both plants and animals. This can be explained by the fact that human beings have shorter digestive systems than most herbivores. Also, humans lack specialized organs to digest the main fiber in plants known as cellulose.

There exist many ways and forms to prepare or cook meat for consumption. The dry heat cooking methods such as pan frying, deep frying, roasting, grilling and baking gives the meat a better flavor and taste thereby making it more appetizing. However, meat can also be cooked through the moist heat cooking method especially through boiling.
